Call for Graduate Student Diversity Travel Award
Graduate students who are presenting papers at MPA may apply for an MPA Diversity Travel Award. Individuals who identify as ethnic/racial minorities, first-generation college students, LGBT students, or students with a disability are eligible. Each award provides a $100 stipend to offset travel costs for the annual meeting. Typically, four awards are available.
You should click here to read the MPA Diversity Statement and find the page with the rules for applying for the award. To apply, you will need to complete the application which includes, the original 400-word abstract of your paper or poster, and a letter of support from a faculty member by February 25th, 2019. Rules for how to submit the faculty letters are in the application which can be found by following the link above. Be sure to indicate how you meet the criteria. Also, include a brief paragraph about what you do to advance diversity, inclusion, or social justice issues.
Award recipients will be recognized and receive their stipend immediately prior to the Presidential Address on Friday of the conference. Previous winners are not eligible. Email Dr. Michael J. Bernstein (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have questions about this.
