MPA STATEMENT ON CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) (3/16/20)

MPA Leadership regrets to announce that we will not hold the MPA 2020 Conference on April 23rd – 25th in Chicago IL. This decision was not made lightly. Public health and the health of all attendees is our number one concern. Stewardship of the organization itself is also important. A decision to cancel and the timing and circumstances under which such a decision is made have significant legal and financial implications that we are still managing as the situation unfolds.

The conference will not be held in person on April 23rd to 25th, 2020. We are still considering whether to postpone the conference to a later date this year. We are unable to provide information on how or when registrations will be refunded until the middle of April at the earliest. Although our registration fees are relatively small, we are keenly aware that for many attendees (particularly undergraduate and graduate students), even those costs are significant. We ask that everyone be patient with us as we work to determine our next steps.

Keep checking this page for more information about how we’ll be moving forward.

Questions can be directed to the MPA Executive Officer, Michael J. Bernstein (mjb70@psu.edu), but please be patient as you wait for a response.

MPA STATEMENT ON CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) (3/14/20)

We appreciate everyone’s patience regarding MPA 2020 and how COVID-19 will affect the conference. A number of legal and financial issues affect if and when an announcement is made regarding the cancelling of the conference. Please be patient as MPA Council evaluates the situation in conjunction with the Convention Manager and the experts from her team. We know people are uncertain of what is to come and people want to know what is happening; we will update everyone as soon as doing so won’t negatively impact the future of the conference.

MPA STATEMENT ON CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) (3/2/20)

MPA Council wanted to let all members know that we are actively attending to all updates regarding the Coronavirus outbreak (also known as COVID-19). Our well wishes are with anyone affected by this virus. Until such a time as situations change and information comes forward to make us reconsider, MPA is fully committed to holding the 2020 Conference as it is currently scheduled. Our highest priority is of course the safety of all conference participants, and we will continue to monitor updates from the CDC and local authorities to determine how best to maintain safety for our attendees. Please continue to monitor this website, our social media accounts, and messages from the Executive Officer for updates.

We anticipate this year’s MPA being one of the largest we’ve had and are so thankful to all presenters, attendees, sponsors, and partners in helping us put on an amazing conference.
